BLT has developed high-precision Laser-based Powder Bed Fusion of Metals (PBF-LB/M) technology after years of research and experience. This innovation addresses the limitations of traditional PBF-LB/M methods in producing small, intricate parts.

Standard PBF-LB/M techniques typically build parts with surface roughness between 5-20μm and accuracy above 0.1mm. BLT’s technology achieves surface roughness of Ra 2-3μm and accuracy below 0.05mm.

Final Model

To showcase this advancement, BLT designed an F-RD topological structure model. The model features complex curvatures and hyperbolic characteristics. Parts were produced using various layer thicknesses.

The results can be seen in the above. Surface quality improved significantly as layer thickness decreased. The 10μm layer thickness produced exceptionally smooth surfaces without visible layer lines.

BLT’s high-precision PBF-LB/M technology has found applications in several industries:

Medical Structural Part:

A Φ3mm part with eight Φ0.3mm channels was successfully manufactured. Traditional methods couldn’t achieve this level of precision.

Apex Structural Part:

A delicate structure with 0.15mm wall thickness was produced for the MicroNeuro project. This method reduced development time and material costs.

Stainless Steel Threaded Part:

A part with 0.1mm thin sections was created without supports. Surface roughness of Ra≤1.6μm was achieved after sandblasting.
